The at-home version of microneedling, a facial procedure that uses a bunch of small needles to puncture the skin, is called dermarolling, where you use a roller with tiny needles on it to prick the skin. Dermarolling can reduce the appearance of acne scarring, large pores, and wrinkles because it induces collagen, making it a common part of facials targeting more mature skin. Master esthetician Claudia Colombo walks Insider producer Irene Kim and her father, Nick, through an at-home plumping facial for mature skin. The facial treatment includes lymphatic drainage, a hydrojelly mask, and dermarolling. Colombo explains the difference between microneedling and dermarolling and how they can help by inducing collagen in the skin.
